For those who crave a true offshore adventure, this extended voyage offers the best opportunity to explore the open waters of Mount’s Bay in search of its remarkable marine wildlife. Running mainly through summer and autumn, the Discovery Voyage gives you the chance to leave the coastline behind and head into deeper waters, where anything from dolphins and porpoises to passing whales and unusual seabirds may be encountered. Depending on conditions, your skipper may take you straight out to sea or round towards the Land’s End area to maximise your chances of sightings.

Aboard the sailing catamaran Shearwater II, inspected and coded to Category 4 by the MCA’s appointed authority, you will travel with a fully trained and licenced crew who have over two decades of experience sailing and surveying these waters. This is an interactive and engaging trip, with passengers encouraged to help spot and photograph wildlife as part of the ongoing citizen science projects the crew supports. It is a unique opportunity to learn about the marine environment and the scientific work your sightings contribute to.

If conditions prevent the full four hour journey, a shorter three hour version may be run instead, with the difference refunded. Waterproofs and lifejackets are provided when needed, and you are welcome to bring binoculars and cameras to capture the moment.
